Maps Direct for Schools

This section will help you place your order to become a subscriber to the MapsDirect for Schools 'Make Maps' interactive mapping service. You do not need to become a subscriber to use the 'Buy Maps' service. A 30-day free trial of 'Make Maps' is also available.

This service is only available to individual schools. If your school is in England or Wales and you have a .sch.uk email address then you can sign up for the service automatically below as we can validate your details against a DfES database.

If your school is in Scotland, if it uses a different domain name, if you are from a local authority education department, or you are a teacher training or advisor then click the appropriate option below to adjust the form to provide all your organization and address details. We validate this manually, contacting you by email or telephone as appropriate to confirm your schools-based requirements.

As a subscription-based service, there is an annual fee for the MapsDirect for Schools 'Make Maps' facility. This gives you access to OS MasterMap, for anywhere in England Scotland and Wales, for every computer on a school network with Internet access - it is a site licence. The fee covers the provision of the service, you do not need to pay for the map data it contains.

Free trial access is available for a 30-day period by choosing the trial option below. After that the cost of the service is:

Primary School £75 + VAT per annum = £88.12 per annum
Secondary School £175 + VAT per annum = £205.92 per annum

If you order the second year in advance, you get a 20% discount on the above fees.

Middle Schools are defined as being of primary or secondary type by DFES. To determine which type your school is, visit the DfES website.

To become a subscriber, you need to complete this form and attach it to your usual school order form. You also need to send a cheque or confirm that we can invoice you according to your school's normal practice.

If you have already signed up for a free trial and now want to take up the subscription service, it is still necessary to re-complete the form below and send off your school purchase orders to order to us. Trial accounts are disabled automatically at the end of the trial period.
